It's official. Dundee has the best Italian restaurant and the best gastropub in Scotland.
Borgotaro has been named the country's best Italian restaurant and The D'Arcy Thompson the best gastropub at the Scottish Food Awards.
Both can take pride in the fact that the prizes are based on customer nominations and on an unannounced visit from judges.
The restaurants beat competitors in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen to claim the coveted food awards.
Borgotaro owner John Black uploaded this picture to Facebook after the announcement.
Andrew McMahon, owner of The D'Arcy Thompson, told STV that winning award was a justified reward for the efforts made by his team.
"It's a small, young team but they all thrive for the same thing and they’re very passionate about what they do," he said.
"They have worked really hard for the past two and a half years and it’s super for them to be recoginsed for their endeavors like this.
"It was great to win, and it was great to see the guys at The Fort win Italian of the year too. Seeing Dundee do so well was fantastic, especially as on all of the nomination cards it seemed to just be Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh over and over again."
The awards are based on customer nominations and Andrew said his team had no idea they were being assessed when the judges paid them an unannounced visit.
"We didn’t know anything about it at all, so it’s very exciting," he said.
John Black, owner of Borgotaro, said he was pleasantly surprised with the result as his new restaurant has only been open since November last year.
"We were really surprised considering how long we have been open, but the chefs and staff have been amazing." he said.
"I think what sets us apart is probably down to consistency. We want to make sure that our dishes are the same every time. There’s nothing worse going to a place you know, ordering something you've had before getting a brand new meal."

Rise of the independent eateries
Many say the foodie scene in Dundee come into its own in recent times and the strong showing at the Scottish Food Awards last night seems to confirm this.
Andrew says he agrees with this assessment and is encouraged to see more and more dining options popping up across the city.
"The really good thing is that lots of new independents are opening up here," he said.
"This is great because there is an enthusiasm and a belief in Dundee which I don’t think there has been before. We’ve opened three in three years with The West House, The Tinsmith and The D'Arcy Thompson and they’ve all been very well supported.
"In the past I think a lot of the people would go to St Andrews for dinner out but now they are getting more options in Dundee."
