Boozy Cow to open burger bars in Dundee and Stirling

The Boozy Cow has announced plans to open two new sites in Scotland following the success of their Aberdeen and Edinburgh bars.

The ‘abattoir chic’ burger chain, which celebrates its first birthday in Aberdeen on Friday, revealed it was “90%” of the way to opening two new restaurants in Dundee and Stirling.

Earmarked to open in spring next year, the two bars would total The Boozy Cow portfolio to four sites, at which point the chain aims to begin donating its profits to charity.

In June, The Speratus Group, which owns the burger bars, said it would donate all profits generated from The Boozy Cow bars once ‘fully operational’, and it is hoped selected charities will begin to benefit by February.

Owner Garreth Wood said the response from customers at their Netherkirkgate and Fredrick Street bars in Aberdeen and Edinburgh respectively had prompted the expansion.

He said: "We are very excited about the brand, so much so were expanding into other cities in Scotland.

"In Stirling and Dundee we have locations that we have identified and we’re well down the line of negotiating and that’s something we are looking forward to.

"We’ve spent a lot of time identifying locations which would work and we love the two cities. They are both very different but we think we have a unique offering and with our charity angle, I think it’s a concept that’s very attractive for people to try."

Each restaurant will have a series of nominated charities, with each bar generating its own donations through profits for good causes in their area.

The Edinburgh branch will support the STV Children’s Appeal and CHAS while the Aberdeen bar will donate to VSA and The Archie Foundation.

Charities to benefit from the new branches in Dundee and Stirling have yet to be decided.

Mr Wood said the brand wished to be completely ‘transparent’ about profits, adding: "It is a very honest, genuine crusade to give away as much profits as we can."

In 2017, The Boozy Cow hopes to open its fifth site, with Inverness, Perth, Glasgow and St Andrews potential towns and cities earmarked for expansion.
