Alex Salmond and actor William Shatner have bonded on Twitter in the wake of the former First Minister's sci-fi snafu at Heathrow Airport.
The bromance blossomed after it emerged last week that Mr Salmond was nearly stopped from boarding a flight by confused staff after booking his tickets under the alias of Star Trek's James T. Kirk.
The former SNP leader, a self-confessed Trekkie who often travelled under the nom de plume for "security reasons", was eventually allowed on board the aircraft after making some frantic phone calls.
The story of Salmond's boarding pass blunder travelled far and wide, eventually grabbing the attention of the original captain of the Enterprise, William Shatner.
The Hollywood actor and singer, best known for his role as James Tiberius Kirk, posted a taunt on Twitter, implying that Mr Salmond was using his old character for time in the limelight.
Set Phasers to Fun
But Salmond was not one to take the jibe lying down, and posted a witty retort on Tuesday night.
After all, he does have a "Membership of Distinction" and "Starfleet officer" status from the Star Trek fan club.
The budding bromance has Twitter users completely enamoured - one fan said it was his "favourite thing on Twitter EVER."
